UNCERTAIN TIMES

So here we are social distancing, self isolating, masking, and learning how to use ZOOM.
It has been interesting and yet not to disrupting for those of us who have begun scaling back our active lives anyway.  Mostly I worry about my pregnant daughters and if I'll be able to travel to be with them for the births.  Then I have my elderly parents who will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary in June and there will be no guests but I'm arranging a "card shower" through our family FB group so maybe we can have cards and pictures of family & friends to celebrate with.
There seems to be a reckoning going on.  There are always those who are in denial and want things to be their way or no way.  But, I'm noticing more and more, that people are finding ways to do life differently and if we all do life a little differently maybe this world can change in a good way.  We don't have to think we are giving anything up, just shifting into another gear and moving forward into new possibilities.
Here is a message from the Hopi Elders:

"You have been telling the people that this is the Eleventh Hour, now you must go back and tell the people that "This is the hour."  And there are things to be considered....Where are you  living?  What are you doing?  What are your relationships?
Are you in right relation?  Where is your water?  Know your garden.  It is time to speak your truth.  Create community.
Be good to each other.  And do not seek outside yourself for the leader.
This could be a good time!  There is a river flowing now very fast.  It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid.  They will hold onto the shore.  They will feel they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly.  Know the river has it's destination.  The Elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above the water.  See who is in there with you and celebrate.
At this time in history we are to take nothing personally.  Least of all ourselves.  For the moment that we do our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt.  The time of  the lone wolf is over.  Gather yourselves!  Banish the word struggle from your attitude and your vocabulary.  All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.  We are the ones we've been waiting for."      Oraibi, Arizona   Hopi Nation

We have a new Granddaughter !!!  What a blessing for all of us !

So many things have happened since I last blogged, visited the kids in Portland, Yoga retreat, new Inner Yoga course (one more week), and Michelle Ray has transitioned into teaching the Tuesday Chair Yoga class !!!  Charlotte is trying to cut back on her schedule and this seemed like the best time for her.  I am glad that she is honoring herself by doing what is best for her at this time.  We will all miss her around the studio but she will be subbing from time to time when we need her.

I will be gone for the next two Saturdays, conference the 8th and a wedding on the 15th so, thankfully, Michelle will be filling in for those days.....
My lifelong friend's daughter is getting married and I will be seeing the rest of her family for the first time in probably 40 years !!!  Can't wait !  Also, another hometown friend will be out there visiting her son and we plan to spend time catching up too......mini reunion!

It is amazing how fast this year has gone by.  It's amazing that I will be on Medicare December 1st !  How'd that happen....never saw myself this age way back when but I wouldn't change a thing...Love my life, family, friends, and Yoga community !

Stay tuned

Wake up call.....

So, Wednesday I get a call from my Mom saying my brother has been taken to the hospital with chest pains....Not good, ever.

A little while later I get a hold of my sister-in-law who is now with Doug at the Pueblo hospital.  Everything is okay, he is doing fine, probably just angina, no heart damage.

But, yesterday, news came that he had, indeed, suffered a "mild" heart attack and would have to have triple by-pass surgery to repair three clogged arteries!  MILD?  I'm no cardiologist so I will take their word for it.

My brother is exactly one year older than me.  He's been a cowboy, literally, almost his whole adult life.  Raised their family on New Mexico ranches and lived a pretty authentic life.  Yes, he followed his heart, his dream, his passion and was
fortunate to find a woman who shared that dream and passion.

I am grateful that my brother will have a chance to move on with life and enjoy his grandkids and family.  We don't know how this will transform his future at the ranch but, as a man of great faith, I am sure he will be open to what the Lord has to offer .....
Blessings to you all and your loved ones...cherish your relationships and make sure they know you LOVE them.

Enjoy this Yoga Nidra recording from last weeks class.
It is about 20 min. long.

Making My Day......(my first blog)

It is Saturday morning and I am hoping to enjoy my coffee before getting ready for class.....it is literally 6:45 am and the neighbor below has started up his buzz saw !  I can't believe it, how can anyone in their right mind think it's alright to operate loud machinery this early in the morning???

Okay,Okay, not to worry, I'll just close all the windows and move myself inside .  AHHHH, peace and quiet, surrounded by my books on the couch and sipping the coveted coffee, I read:  "A man tracks himself through life.  One should be always on the trail of ones own deepest nature.  For it is the fearless living out of your own essential nature that connects you to the DEVINE" and "Be resolutely and faithfully what you are, not who you think your should be."
Henry David Thoreau

Now, every once in awhile, I sometimes think, "hey maybe I should try that (let's say gardening)" .  I invest a fair amount of money, time, and a lot of effort into planting a sensible garden.  Now after a few weeks of watering and weeding my enthusiasm begins to dwindle and when, finally, the fruits of my labor appear it is less than impressive.  Maybe enough for one or two salads......do I really like squash?  or whatever else growing?  Lesson learned.

My passion is teaching, healing, writing and traveling !  It has taken most of my life to finally accept this as my
"essential nature" and not become distracted by the many very noble and valid choices that float through cyber-space and into the receptive mind.  When I dive deep into my passions they offer so many new adventures that I'll never be able to experience them all in this lifetime or, for that matter, in the many lifetimes to come....

Enjoy a recorded Shivasana recording by clicking on the audio bar to the right.....let me know how it works.  All new to me.

NAMASTE
